Abstract:
This map represents the combined aggregate fishing grounds for the charter, private and commercial sectors for Pacific City, Oregon. Specifically, the aggregates used were derived from interviews with charter captains, recreational and commercial fishermen from Pacific City, Oregon. The user groups aggregate that were combined were Dungeness crab, Pacific Halibut, Rockfish, and Salmon. They also noted that they fished for Tuna offshore. The combined fishing grounds are depicted from High to low, which illustrates the relative importance of fishing grounds. The contours of greatest value were then selected for inclusion in the Territorial Sea Planning process.
Purpose:
Fishing Value maps were generated for use in the Oregon Territorial Sea Planning process. These maps were used to identify areas of low conflict for wave energy. A survey methodology was used by the Doryman's Association, to interview fishermen about areas of importance for the fisheries they participated in. Survey methodology included: All participants asked the same questions, they were provided maps to document their answers, the map information was compiled with a third party and put on transparency overlays, the overlays were added one by one to produce the map.

The map is held in confidence with the Non-Profit C-3 Organization The Pacific City DorymenÂ’s Association. Parametrix georeferenced the maps produced by the Dorymans Association and generated these shapefiles.
