Description:

Abstract: A precise geographical area within which placement of dredged material occurs. This feature class is a compilation of geographic data digitized from various sources.
Purpose: Data compiled through the Navigational Coastal Databank Program to support users of coastal navigation data.
Supplemental Information:
The placement area features in this data set were digitized using information from multiple sources. Coastal features were digitized from corner coordinates found in the Federal Register. Where no Federal Register data were available features were digitized from NWP hydro survey charts or extracted from existing NWP GIS data. Columbia River and Lower Willamette features were extracted from existing NWP GIS data and hydro survey charts. Where applicable, features were edited under the direction of NWP C&LW POC's, using 2005 aerial imagery and personal knowledge of the sites. Please see the feature level metadata for specific feature source information.
USACE NWP District conducts flow lane disposal of dredged materials at various locations throughout the Columbia River. Due to the nature of this practice, the entire Columbia River may be considered a dredged materials disposal site. This fact has not been captured by a polygon in this data set, but is noted here in its metadata.

Coastal features were digitized and attributed under the direction of NWP POC Wendy Briner. C&LW features were digitized and attributed under the direction of NWP POC Jon Gornick. Data were created in GCS NAD83 and converted to GCS WGS84 for the NCDB.
