Abstract: This shapefile represents the tax parcel layer encompassing the city and urban growth boundary limits for the City of Bandon.
Purpose:
The purpose of this layer is to represent the tax assessors parcels and provide a means to assess hazards as they relate to ocean front development. Additional work by a subcontractor enabled the parcel layer to be completed for the entire city and thus utilized by the planning department.
Supplemental Information:
The parcel layer contains three seperate pieces of information. The first is the linework acquired in a CAD format from the Dyre Partnership, an engineering group on contract with the City of Bandon. The second piece of information includes the linking attribute which in this case consists of the Section, Township, Range, Quarter Section, and Tax Lot number. The third and final piece of information is the Farm Team database acquired from Ken Gregg under contract with the City of Bandon. This information is obtained from the Coos and Curry County Assessors office.

Process Step:
Process Description:
Original linework was created by scanning the tax parcel
maps and digitizing the linework in AutoCAD. This linework
was then registered into Oregon Lambert coordinates using
the world file creation in ArcView 3.2. The linework was
then converted into an ArcINFO coverage and registered
using the Geodetic Control Database from BLM and the Ortho
rectified 1994 USGS Quadrangle. Once the linework was
registered and rectified, then topology was built. The file
was then converted back into a shapefile and brought into
ArcView where each polygon was checked for consistency with
the paper maps, and attributed with the Section ,Township,
Range, Quarter Section, and Tax Lot number to create the
linking attribute. Finally this was attributed with the
updated 6-1-01 Farm Team database to create the existing shapfile.
